ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

  • Pay Considerations –The starting hourly pay for this position is $26.05 – $39.07. Starting salary is dependent on education, qualifications, and experience. Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
  • Work Schedule – This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day (36 hour work week), Monday through Thursday, 5:30am to 3:00pm.
  • Environment – Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to lift a minimum of 75* pounds unassisted.

THE ROLE
Performs maintenance on street lights and traffic control devices. Assists in performing difficult, complex, large maintenance projects. Routine tasks may be performed independently. New or unusual tasks or assignments with special requirements are explained before beginning and work is checked during and after completion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

  •  High school diploma or equivalent,
  • Two (2) years progressively responsible experience performing electrical construction and/or maintenance work. Street lighting and traffic signals experience is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  •  Level I Signs & Markings and IMSA Work Zone Safety within six (6) months of hire/reclassification.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver’s license.

SELECTION PROCESS

  1. Complete online application – Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City’s application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
  2. The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume – The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process. The selection process will include (dates to be determined).
  3. Oral Board Interview (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%).
  4. Pre-Employment Screening – Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history checks via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. **IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
  5. Selection/Offers –

Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
