Hiring Range: $30.50-$39.63 per hour depending on qualifications

Additional Job Description

The Traffic Control Field Operations Supervisor directs, manages, supervises, and oversees the activities and operations of the signs and pavement markings programs from design through construction, and all ongoing maintenance.  This position oversees the operation and maintenance of the asset inventory and work order database and functions as the Infrastructure Department’s representative for the Special Events Committee.

Key Responsibilities

    • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities related to signs, pavement markings, work zone setups, incident management, and special events on public rights-of-way.
    • Manages Right of Way permit approvals, work zone setups, and daily maintenance operations within the Traffic Control group.
    • Leads, motivates, develops and evaluates assigned personnel, and responds to complaints and requests from city officials and residents.
    • Estimates time, materials, and equipment for routine maintenance and oversees project management from Traffic Engineering.
    • Administers, researches, and implements new technologies and equipment to improve traffic control safety, operation, and efficiency.
    • Inspects signs and pavement marking assets for compliance with the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices and ensures safety procedures are followed.

Qualifications

Experience:  A minimum of five years of similar experience in traffic is required.  At least one year of supervisory experience is preferred.

Education:  A high school diploma or equivalent is required.  An associate’s degree or other similar technical study or education in a relevant field of study is preferred.

Licenses & Certifications: A valid driver’s license and favorable driving record are required.  A valid International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Signs & Pavement Markings Technician II and a valid Work Zone Temporary Traffic Control Technician certification are also required.

Environmental or Physical Demands: Work involves working in the office and outdoors.  Exposure to weather conditions, various hazards such as vehicular traffic and heavy moving equipment is expected along with repetitive motion of handling traffic control devices and materials.
